brake system into service mode prior to servicing or removing any brake
components. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious
personal injury.
-
Activate the brake service mode.
Refer to: Brake Service Mode Activation and Deactivation (206-00 Brake System - General Information, General Procedures).

Remove and discard the brake caliper mounting bolts.
Vehicles with adhesive on brake pad insulator
-
NOTICE:
Brake pads with adhesive on the insulator are
one-time use only. When the brake pads are separated from the brake
caliper, new brake pads must be installed to prevent brake noise and
shudder.
-
Separate the inboard and outboard brake pad from the brake caliper.
-
Position the brake caliper aside.
All vehicles
-
NOTE:
For vehicles equipped with adhesive on brake pad insulator, discard the brake pads.
Remove the brake pads. Discard if installing new brake pads.
-
Remove the brake pad clips. Discard if installing new brake pads.
-
NOTICE:
Do not use a C-clamp to compress the brake
caliper piston or damage to the parking brake actuator motor may occur.
NOTICE:
Do not rotate the piston when pushing in the
caliper or damage to the parking brake actuator motor may occur.
NOTE:
Select a tool that compresses the piston without rotation.
