Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

Removal

  WARNING: Always allow the engine to cool before opening the cooling system. Do not unscrew the coolant pressure relief cap when the engine is operating or the cooling system is hot. The cooling system is under pressure; steam and hot liquid can come out forcefully when the cap is loosened slightly. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury.

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

  1. Drain the cooling system.
    Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding (303-03A Engine Cooling - 2.3L EcoBoost (201kW/273PS), General Procedures).
  1. Remove the EGR cooler.
    Refer to: Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Cooler (303-08A Engine Emission Control - 2.3L EcoBoost (201kW/273PS), Removal and Installation).
  1. Loosen the clamp and position the CAC tube aside.
  1. Loosen the clamps and position the coolant hoses aside.
  1. Disconnect the quick release couplings.
  1. Detach the electrical wiring harness retainers.
  1. Remove the bolt.
  1. Detach the electrical wiring harness retainers.
    • Release the clamp and disconnect the coolant hose.
      Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer
    • Remove the bolts, studbolts and the coolant outlet connector and outlet pipe assembly.
  1. Inspect the gasket and replace it if necessary.
  1. Remove the bolt and separate the coolant outlet pipe from the coolant outlet connector.
  1. Inspect the O-ring seal and replace it if necessary.

Installation

  1. Lubricate the O-ring seal with clean engine coolant.
    Refer to: Specifications (303-03A Engine Cooling - 2.3L EcoBoost (201kW/273PS), Specifications).
  1. Install the coolant outlet pipe and the bolt.
    • Install the coolant outlet connector and outlet pipe assembly and the bolts, studbolts.
      Torque: 93 lb.in (10.5 Nm)
    • Connect the coolant hose.
      Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer
  1. Attach the electrical wiring harness retainers.
  1. Install the bolts.
    Torque: 35 lb.ft (47.5 Nm)
  1. Attach the electrical wiring harness retainers.
  1. Connect the quick release couplings.
  1. Position the coolant hoses and tighten the clamps.
    Torque: 44 lb.in (5 Nm)
  1. Position the CAC tube and tighten the clamp.
    Torque: 44 lb.in (5 Nm)
  1. Install the EGR cooler.
    Refer to: Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Cooler (303-08A Engine Emission Control - 2.3L EcoBoost (201kW/273PS), Removal and Installation).
  1. Fill and bleed the cooling system.
    Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding (303-03A Engine Cooling - 2.3L EcoBoost (201kW/273PS), General Procedures).
